Glad I found this forum and hope that BYD are watching because I'm going to have a bit of a rant. I've had a Dolphin for about 3 months. It's driving me absolutely barmy (that's me being polite!) and I get quite anxious when I drive it!! Not just the aggressive lane alert but my radar seems to be way oversensitive and brakes the car when it's completely unnecessary - whether the cruise control is on or not; one of the proximity sensors just comes on whenever it likes, even when there are NO other cars around (and I mean none); and this morning it was very cold when I left home (2 degrees C) and it clearly couldn't function with the cold - I saw a range of alarms that I've not seen before including 'ADAS is limited' (at least twice), something about the steering wheel (but it only came on for such a short time that I couldn't figure out what it was), and I reckon there was another one as well but given that I was driving on a motorway I can't keep watching the damn dash all the time because I have to watch the road!! Oh and there was some tyre problem today - maybe that was due to the cold too? Who knows? I just need the damn thing to work without alarming all over the place!
I live in the Adelaide hills and it regularly reaches zero degrees during winter - I need the car to be ok with that!
The oversensitive radar is the worst one because I drive on both country and urban roads, and in urban areas I really worry that it's going to randomly brake the car and make a following car bump into me - do the brake lights come on when it does this?
And worst of all today, it DID NOT brake when it should have - I was driving on a dual carriageway and a car turned right just in front of me, way too close and the system should have kicked in but it DIDN'T!!
I'm having the car serviced in two weeks time and believe me they are going to hear all about my poor experience with this car. Thinking about swapping it for something else even before I've had a chance to pay for it - and this was the first time in my life that I was able to afford a new car - so effing disappointing.
Australian Dolphin - lemon?
Hi, I am also from Adelaide!
Try this:
ADAS ---> Active Safety --> Predictive Collision Warning ---> set to Late
Front Cross Traffic Braking --> Off
The two above should "reduce" the chance of the car braking too aggressively.
Also
Automatic Emergency Braking --> Off (only valid for the current ignition cycle)
*** Can you please do me a favour? It's been raining lately in SA. I noticed that my front trunk of my dolphin gets wet in heavy rain.
Can you please pay attention to you front trunk after driving in heavy rain for more than 15 min? See if it gets wet in side. Thanks.
